About:

Dr. Ronald St. John began his public health career as an epidemiologist at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. From 1980-1989, he was the program coordinator responsible for infectious disease control programs in the Americas for the Pan American Health Organization (Regional Office of the World Health Organization). With the Canadian Department of Health, he directed quarantine, migration health, travel medicine, the Global Public Health Intelligence Network, and counter-terrorism. He was the first Director General for the Federal Centre for Emergency Preparedness and Response. He consults frequently with the World Health Organization on the management of emergency responses to infectious disease outbreaks.

He is the co-Founder of Sitata Inc, an internet/web-based company that provides the international traveller with accurate up-to-date health and safety information to help the traveller remain healthy and safe wherever they travel. Sitata uses advanced software algorithms to monitor the world for disease outbreaks and safety hazards. Instant health and safety alerts are provided directly to the traveller through the Sitata app 24/7.

Research Interests:

Event-based surveillance, detection of unexplained/unusual/undiagnosed health events that have the potential for pandemic spread.
