The Office of Research Services (ORS) oversees research administration, supporting Bruyère Health Research Institute’s researchers with funding and grant management, research ethics and compliance, equipment and facilities, collaborations and industry partnerships, media and research promotion, and more.

Research Ethics
The Bruyère Health Research Ethics Board (REB) oversees ethical review of research conducted at Bruyère Health and the Bruyère Health Research Institute.

Proposals and Awards
The Office of Research Services provides guidance and support to research teams on grants, awards, and funding acquisition and eligibility. The ORS holds the authority to approve grants or other sources of funding held at the Bruyère Health Research Institute and provides institutional sign-off for grant submissions.
Proposals and Awards reviews applications for grants and other sources of funding. Pre-award support includes guidance on budget development and review, grant proposal or application review, institutional signatures for letters of support, statements of matching funding, and other supporting documentation.
Research teams should submit all funding proposals to bhri-awards@bruyere.org for review and approval before submitting. Institutional approval is required for all funds to be held at Bruyère Health Research Institute.
Grant submission will be incorporated into the research administration system (RAS), Cayuse, upon the launch of the Sponsored Project module, currently scheduled for fall of 2025.

Contracts and Agreements
The Office of Research Services works with investigators and their research teams to draft, review, negotiate, and finalize research contracts and agreements for research projects.

Clinical Trials
The Office of Research Services has introduced a new Clinical Trials department designed to facilitate and support investigator-led and industry sponsored clinical trial research at Bruyère Health Research Institute.
The department provides comprehensive support to research teams, including expertise in protocol development and review, guidance for applications to Research Ethics Boards and Health Canada, expert advice on budgets, assistance in identifying necessary resources, and support in connecting researchers with industry partners with aligned research interests.
Additional support is available through education and training in conducting clinical trials, guidance throughout the trial lifecycle, assistance to teams for industry partner visits, support in preparing for audits and inspections, and quality assurance oversight and monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical requirements.
