About:
Dr. Jessica Roy completed medical school at the University of Ottawa via the francophone stream at Montfort Hospital, followed by residency in Family Medicine at the University of Toronto. She transitioned her practice over time to palliative care and has been appointed with the designation of Certificate of Added Competence in Palliative Care.
Dr. Roy provided home-based and hospice palliative care in Toronto for 8 years at Dorothy Ley Hospice before moving to Ottawa, where she now works at the Bruyère Health Palliative Care Unit and as a consultant for the Regional Palliative Consult Team. Dr. Roy is currently the francophone palliative care expert for undergraduate medical education and is quality improvement lead for the Department of Palliative Care at Bruyère Health.
Dr. Roy’s research and quality improvement initiatives focus on access to equitable and compassionate care in the home setting, palliative care in end-stage heart disease, increasing the palliative care approach in primary care, community palliative care education, and the humanities in medicine.
