The John and Jennifer Ruddy Geriatric Day Hospital is a bilingual interprofessional outpatient geriatric rehabilitation program that aims to optimize the health and quality of life of seniors in our community.

Admission Criteria

To be considered for admission, a client must be:


    • At least 65 years of age
    • Referred by a physician
    • Require two or more of these needs to be addressed:
    • Mobility/Falls
    • Difficulty with activities of daily living, such as bathing, meal preparation or problem-solving in emergencies
    • Cognitive issues and symptoms that are affecting function
    • Medication concerns
    • Caregiver stress / future planning

Program Structure

The team works closely with the client and caregivers to set goals and implement a personalized therapeutic program that can last up to 8 weeks.


Clients typically participate in the program two half days each week.

Discharge

Prior to discharge from the program, clients will receive health information, community resources, and a home exercise program based on their individual goals and needs.


A summary of the client’s course of stay and progress is sent to his/her family doctor.
