Former Bruyère patient performs piano recital July 18

Thiago Santos is a pianist and an architect born in Florianopolis, Brazil and now living in Ottawa.
Thiago was a complex care patient at the Bruyère Saint Vincent Hospital from August 2023 until January 2024 due to a severe neurological disease that left him completely paralyzed and unable to even breathe without assistance.
Now fully recovered, he returns Bruyère to share a bit of his musical passion with patients and staff.
Thiago started playing the piano when he was nine years old and continued his musical studies at the Conservatorio Musical de Florianopolis until his early 20s. In 2003, he started his Piano Performance bachelor’s degree at the Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina, also in Brazil.
Thiago has performed numerous piano recitals in Brazil and briefly worked at a resort in Orlando, Florida, entertaining guests at the piano bar.
Notwithstanding his vast musical background, Thiago’s career was focused on the architectural and design field. However, he has never abandoned the piano and his passion for music.
Thiago will be performing at 2:30 p.m. Thursday July 18 in the atrium of Saint Vincent Hospital, 60 Cambridge St. N.
