We are looking for volunteers to help in research in the SAM3 Smart Apartment!
05/15/2024
You may know that the Bruyère Health Research Institute has had the SAM3 Smart Apartment for many years and we have received funding from the National Research Council to assess sensor systems to support aging in place and independence.
The apartment is being upgraded with new sensor technology and we have obtained Bruyère Research Ethics Board approval to begin collecting data for this new study. We are looking for older adults (age 65+) to participate so that we can understand how sensors placed around the space can assess typical daily activities in the kitchen and living room spaces.
Who is eligible:
- You must be 65+ years of age.
- You should not have any known significant physical, emotional, or cognitive disorders that would prevent you from performing typical kitchen tasks and light physical activity using a stationary set of pedals while seated.
What to expect:
- Kitchen Phase: Complete a series of normal kitchen tasks
- Home Exercise Phase: Exercise using pedal system while seated in a chair
